BE BOLD. BE DIFFERENT.

Getting and staying fit and healthy is made so much easier by creating a manageable routine. About forming good habits. If you can build it into your life without having to compromise and make dramatic changes, then you’re much more likely to stick to it. Often small changes can make a big difference.

Every year 100,000s of people flock almost mindlessly to sign up for the January gym deal, usually because they feel guilty after a bit of indulgence over the festive period. The gyms sit back and enjoy the ride literally watching the money roll in! It’s baffling just how many people don’t think and just do. Depending on the type of gym this can run into the high £100s if not over a £1,000 for the year’s membership or until you’ve got round to eventually cancelling post the small print exclusions! Is this a well through through investment??

Don’t feel guilty!

Firstly, and probably most importantly, don’t feel guilty about indulging. You’re allowed to indulge! If it makes you happy, do it. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Just be mindful about doing it too often and be in control of when you do it.

Secondly, have a think about what you actually want. What are you trying to get out of this investment and is the gym the right place for you to be investing that money? For some it will be. For others, consider relevant and realistic alternatives. You’ve have already spent more than you’d have hoped to over the festive period and with most people getting paid early to help with present shopping, January can seem a brutally long and baron month. No wonder people suffer mentally with the ‘up and down’ of it all. And no amount of ‘going dry’ for January is going to help as again it’s dramatic and unsustainable! Mentally fast forward to February and March, and where do you think you’ll be?

Think about what you really want.

What is clear, is the intent. Most people enter into the malaise of January deals with the right intent. However, as soon as January comes on, the motivation at an all time high, you’re committed to shedding that excess festive inch (beware of the ‘Winch’!), raring to go with a vision of a 6-pack, flat stomach, and/or party dress front of mind as motivation, only to get to the gym and you can’t get onto a bl**dy running machine as everyone else has just been through the same thought process. Then you have to adapt. Then your planned routine goes out of the window and you’re frustrated. Same old story. Different year. Is that what you really want?

Invest in personalisation. Invest in you.

Break the mould. Don’t fall into the same old ways. Don’t be the same as everyone else. Rise above. Invest in yourself. Be bold. Be different.
